Mercy Health is pleased that two of our hospitals have been named as Best Places to Work by Modern Healthcare.

Mercy Health – Willard Hospital has been ranked as number five and Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital has been ranked number 48 among healthcare providers and insurers in Modern Healthcare’s 2019 Best Places to Work in Healthcare list. Modern Healthcare published a special supplement featuring ranked lists of all the winners along with the Sept. 30 issue.

“Earning a place on the Best Places to Work list is a tribute to our teams who work hard to ensure our patients receive the highest quality of care each and every day,” said Lynn Detterman, president, Mercy Health – Toledo Rural Market. “Combining quality and compassion is what Mercy Health has been known for and will remain our promise to our community. I am proud of the providers, nurses and staff at both Mercy Health – Willard Hospital and Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital for their excellent service to this community and their dedication to the Mercy Health Mission.”

Earlier this year, Modern Healthcare reached out to a random sample of associates who were asked to complete a survey that inquired about employee recognition activities, holiday celebrations and gifts, support for continued learning and community involvement.

Mercy Health – Willard Hospital employs about 160 associates. Noted as the reasons our associates love their place of employment is “recognition programs” and “professional week celebrations.” Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital employs about 350 associates who say they love most about Mercy Health, discount employee programs and employee recognition events. Both hospitals are within the Mercy Health – Toledo Market.

“We are proud of our hospitals in both Tiffin and Willard and are pleased that our associates believe in our Mission, community and patients,” said Bob Baxter, president, Mercy Health – Toledo. “We want to create an environment that our employees can be proud of and this recognition solidifies the fact that our team feels the same way. We are honored to have received this recognition.”

Modern Healthcare and its Best Places to Work in Healthcare award winners have accomplished much over the years, empowering healthcare organizations, and the people who work for them, to realize their full potential. Modern Healthcare partners with the Best Companies Group on the assessment process, which includes an extensive employee survey.

“With record unemployment levels, organizations face stiff competition to attract and retain top talent. The providers and companies making this year’s Best Places to Work in Healthcare list understand the importance of creating an environment where employees can not only excel in their own development but contribute to the mission of improving care delivery,” said Aurora Aguilar, editor of Modern Healthcare. “An appreciation—and dedication—to their organization’s mission was one of the most common refrains from employees filling out surveys this year.”

Both Mercy Health – Willard Hospital and Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital were honored at the 2019 Best Places to Work Awards Dinner on Thursday, Sept. 26, at the Renaissance Dallas Hotel. This is the first time both hospitals have made the list.
