Strayer joins Lake Erie Shores & Islands Team

Milan native is new sports tourism manager

SANDUSKY – Milan native Weston Strayer has joined the Lake Erie Shores & Islands group accounts team as Sports Tourism Manager. In this newly-created position, Stayer will be selling the destination to sports events rights holders, coaches, and families in a manner that maximizes economic impact and increases hotel occupancy. Additionally, he will be supporting and growing existing events, building stronger relationships with partners, maintaining the leisure sports calendar, and attending sports-related tradeshows.

Strayer is a graduate of Edison High School and The Ohio State University (both undergraduate and graduate degrees.) He previously worked with the basketball team at The Ohio State University under former head coach Thad Matta and coached at Lake Superior State University and Radford University.  Most recently he has worked in commercial insurance. Strayer has a passion for sports, marketing, and the Lake Erie Shores & Islands region. One of his first official duties will be to attend the Connect Sports Marketplace this month.
