The Put-in-Bay Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau received a RUBY Award for its brochure “Kids Love Put-in-Bay” at the Ohio Travel Association’s 2019 Ohio Conference on Travel. Presented annually by Ohio Magazine and the OTA, the RUBY (Recognizing Uncommon Brilliance Yearly) Awards honor outstanding efforts made by Ohio tourism entities in the marketing and promotion of their destinations.
“The OTA is a great way for small organizations like Visitputinbay.com to be recognized by the larger travel industry for our creative work to promote Put-in-Bay, South Bass Island, and we’re honored to have earned this recognition,” said Peter Huston, Director of the Put-in-Bay Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau.
“We are so lucky to have a great designer like Denise Discenza take our ideas and turn them into award-winning products. And with a tiny budget, having a partner like Julene Market and Miller Boat Line ensures that our idea gets into the hands of thousands of visiting families. We work so hard day to come up with creative, innovative ways to spread the word about Put-in-Bay, and it’s wonderful to be recognized.”
This year’s RUBY Awards included 16 categories subdivided into three budget levels. Put-in-Bay Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau (Visitputinbay.com) competed in the “Brochure” category. Visitputinbay.com won first place in this year’s RUBY Award’. Tourism is our primary industry here in Put-in-Bay. Our island welcomes nearly a million visitors annually, supporting more than 3,500 tourism-related jobs.
