Over the last year, ProMedica Memorial Hospital celebrated significant achievements – including upgrades to the facility that enhance patient care, implementation of new programs and services and other clinical accomplishments.

Memorial Hospital completed a $11.5 million dollar project that included a new patient-centered unit that provides care to pediatric, adult and senior patients, new registration bays that reduces wait time and a renovated lobby. The ground floor has a new echo lab, stress lab and EKG in their own department space, and the cardiac/pulmonary rehabilitation and pulmonary function has a new lab on the ground floor. The hospital also has a newly renovated gift shop and cafeteria.

A brand new birthing center at the hospital opened, offering amenities for moms-to-be and their families such as larger private patient rooms, state-of-the-art equipment, brand new furnishings and spacious family-friendly waiting rooms. Beds for fathers are also provided to add comfort during their stay.

In addition to facility upgrades, ProMedica welcomed Courtney Payne, PA-C, ProMedica Physicians Gynecology Oncology, to the Dorothy L. Kern Cancer Center. Payne sees patients at the cancer center for gynecological-related cancer care, with the goal to keep women in their community for their healthcare needs.

Memorial Hospital also became a designated Lung Cancer Screening Center by the American College of Radiology. The ACR Lung Cancer Screening Center designation is a voluntary program that recognizes facilities that have committed to practice safe, effective diagnostic care for individuals at the highest risk for lung cancer.

Additionally, Memorial Hospital was awarded with an ‘A’ from The Leapfrog Group’s spring 2019 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade. The designation recognizes Memorial Hospital’s efforts in protecting patients from harm and providing safer health care.
