Ottawa County Health Department appoints new director of nursing

PORT CLINTON – The Ottawa County Board of Health has selected Katie Crowell as the new director of nursing. She replaces Diane Kokinda.

Crowell has been working in healthcare and health education since 2013. She earned an associate’s degree in nursing, a bachelor of science, and a master’s of public health from the University of Toledo/Bowling Green State University as part of the Northwest Ohio Consortium for Public Health.

Crowell began working at OCHD in 2018 as the health educator and a public health nurse. She has worked in the various clinic settings within the health department, the senior clinics and at public health education events. Crowell has served as the public information specialist at OCHD and has taken an active role in the current pandemic. She has had a passion for public health for many years and is excited to continue to serve the residents of Ottawa County and their health needs.
