OAK HARBOR – In April, the OhioMeansJobs-Ottawa County center welcomed Tricia Tallman as the Employment Resources Assistant. Tallman has provided assistance with resume writing, unemployment services, forming positive relationships with job seekers and assisting employment resources coordinator Chrissy Ernsberger with additional OhioMeansJobs activities. Tallman has been a mentor for five years with the TNT Mentoring Program of Ottawa County and she recently started volunteering at Riders Unlimited Inc. Equestrian Center. Tallman is native to Ottawa County, and a graduate of Davis College with an associate’s degree in marketing.

Recently, OhioMeansJobs-Ottawa County received positive feedback from two job seekers who wanted to share their success story with OhioMeansJobs-Ottawa County.

A Port Clinton resident stopped out at OhioMeansJobs-Ottawa County in late February and again in March 2018 asking for assistance finding employment. Ernsberger paired up with this resident to let her know what jobs were available in her field of interest and assisted the resident several times, filling out and submitting applications to local businesses. The resident continued to look for employment, wasn’t finding the right fit, and even stated that she was “ready to give up,” but her persistence paid off.

This Port Clinton resident stopped by OhioMeansJobs-Ottawa County again in late April 2018 with a big, bright smile stating that she “got a job” and that she would start her new adventure in just a few short days.

Another job seeker named Bernadette Bowman stopped by OhioMeansJobs-Ottawa County in May, and here’s what she had to say:

“I had lost my previous job and was feeling depressed. I did not know where to start for help. I came into the OhioMeansJobs-Ottawa County and was so grateful that I did! The staff, especially Chrissy, was a God send. She had the resources, the knowledge, and compassion to help me through the whole process. I have recommended the facility to a number of friends and will continue to use the services offered as needed. I recently secured employment as a manager in training at Taco Bell!! I do not believe that I would’ve had the confidence to do that without the support from OhioMeansJobs-Ottawa County staff.”
Both of these stories are proof that the right job will come along at just the right time. Never give up and never stop trying to achieve your goals. OhioMeansJobs-Ottawa County staff wishes both ladies the best of luck in their new endeavors.
