New leader takes over Marblehead Chamber

Submitted by MARBLEHEAD PENINSULA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

The Marblehead Peninsula Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has chosen Teri Cassell as its new executive director.

Cassell is an Ohio native and moved to Marblehead full time four years ago. She previously lived in the Lorain county area where she has always been community-minded. She was actively involved in her children’s school activities, volunteering at a soup kitchen and serving as a board member on her church council. Her focus has always been helping others and contributing where she could make a difference. Teri attended Lorain County Community College and studied Computer Science which led her to a manufacturing company working as a Computer Programmer. After several years she was eager to do something different and more exciting, like travel the world and meet people from different cultures. She took a position as a travel planner for an incentive travel company in the Cleveland area. She enjoyed working with corporate clients and implementing unique travel programs that would incentivize their sales force and customers. She worked closely with hotels and tour companies in logistically planning large group events. Her favorite part of the job was seeing her clients succeed by helping them create memorable experiences for their attendees. Teri advanced to becoming the operations manager for the company and was later promoted to the director of incentive travel.

After 20 years of sending her clients to beautiful destinations, Cassell realized that her favorite destination was right here in Marblehead. She and her husband Fred with their three children have been visiting Marblehead and the Lake Erie Islands for many years. As a child Cassell and her family would attend the annual Halupki Festival every summer at Holy Assumption Orthodox Church, she now serves as parish council secretary.
