By DEB MARTORANA, Seneca Regional Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Services

Little Willows Learning Academy is officially opening its doors with an open house on from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12. Little Willow is located at 636 Miami St., Tiffin. Owner/director Kim Matheny has over 30 years of experience in the childcare field in various positions including licensing and is very excited to open her own day care center. Little Willow’s is a locked facility. Little Willow is open Monday through Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Little Willow Learning Academy LLC is committed to excellence in early childhood education. Matheny has hired a highly trained staff to assist with the care of children from 6 weeks through 12 years of age. There are four classrooms: stork (age 6 weeks to 18 months), owlet (age 10 to 36 months), robin (age 3 to 5) and eagles (age 5 to 12).

Matheny believes that an early childhood program must provide a nurturing, safe environment that will support a child’s social, emotional, physical and cognitive development. A developmentally appropriate curriculum will be offered to meet the interests and needs of the children in the classroom.
