Macie Parthemore made an ambitious plan for what she was going to do after high school, and she worked hard to make her career dreams come true. Less than two years after her high school graduation, Parthemore has accepted a full-time position at Cleveland Clinic as a Certified Surgical Technologist with the cardiothoracic surgery team.
In May 2017, Parthemore graduated after attending EHOVE’s high school program called Medical Careers. Using the Freedom Scholarship, she attended EHOVE’s adult education program called Surgical Technology, and gained real-world experience by completing clinical hours by working in operating rooms at different hospitals.
“She was very engaged and motivated, and showed great interest in obtaining employment with the team,” said Shanon Schady, Heart & Vascular Institute Educator at Cleveland Clinic. “Her peers commented that she takes pride in her work and also strives to improve her skills. She asks questions to have a better understanding of caring for patients and team members. We are proud to have Macie as a team member.”
“I only had a short time with her but her excitement to start her new career and her professional attitude were prevalent,” said Lenore Gregg, Administrative Coordinator for Surgical Technology.
Parthemore graduated from EHOVE Adult Career Center as a Certified Surgical Technologist and from North Central State College with an Associate of Applied Science in December 2018, thanks to a partnership between the schools to offer college credit to students.
“I’m loving every second of my job and couldn’t imagine doing anything else,” said Parthemore. “I have the most amazing team and have met so many people. The surgeons are truly brilliant and I have learned so much from them so quickly. I look forward to spending many years working at The Cleveland Clinic.”
“Seeing students reach their potential and find happiness in their careers is the best reward in teaching that we could ever receive,” said EHOVE Adult Career Center’s Surgical Technology Coordinator.
