Elder CollegeHURON – Have you ever wondered what is distinctive about Texas barbecue? Join in for the ElderCollege kickoff as Dr. Dale Schnetzer takes you on a virtual Texas barbecue tour. Schnetzer will leave your mouth watering as he walks you through his eight-day zigzag from San Antonio to Dallas, where he sampled 16 different BBQ restaurants.
The kickoff of the ElderCollege program will be held from
1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, in the Cedar Point Center at Bowling Green State University Firelands College.
With more than 150 members, ElderCollege at BGSU Firelands is designed to promote lifelong learning for adults 50 years of age and beyond from all educational and socio-economic backgrounds. There are no academic requirements to join ElderCollege, and there are no tests or grades. Individuals simply attend for the enjoyment of learning.
Forty-seven classes are planned for the year. Topics include health care, science, history and much more.
Individuals can enroll in ElderCollege for a fee of $110, which entitles them to attend unlimited classes throughout the term. Non-members can participate by paying a minimal fee per class, typically $20.
