Downtown Tiffin receives two state awards

COLUMBUS – Heritage Ohio presented Downtown Tiffin with two awards and an honorable mention at the Annual Preservation and Revitalization Awards Ceremony Tuesday, Oct. 22, at the historic Midland Theatre in Newark.Heritage Ohio awards

Awards were given to:

  • The Ritz Theatre, winner of the Historic Theater of the Year Award.
  • Tiffin Capital Investments LLC, winner of the Best Upper Floor Residential Rehabilitation Award for Court Street Lofts, 33 Court St.
  • Reclaim It 127, honorable mention for the Main Street Business of the Year Award.

The Historic Theater of the Year Award is presented to the historic theater, opera house or cinema which embodies the spirit of preservation. The Best Upper Floor Residential Rehabilitation Award is presented to one or more individuals, tenants or property owners who have completed the best interior single or multi-family upper floor residential project in a downtown mixed-use building based on proper preservation techniques.

“Many good projects were considered,” according to Joyce Barrett, the executive director of Heritage Ohio, “Congratulations to Downtown Tiffin on their awards for these worthwhile projects that not only preserve history in the community but create a better quality of life for its citizens.”

In 2018, Downtown Tiffin was presented with three statewide awards by Heritage Ohio. The Façade Enhancement Grant program won Best Public/Private Partnership; Suzie Reineke and Weston Reinbolt won Young Preservation Leaders; and Amy Reinhart won Main Street Manager of the Year. In 2017, the annual Around the Town event won the Best Main Street Committee Event.

 

“I’m pleased to see that Heritage Ohio again recognized all the great things happening in Downtown Tiffin,” said Tiffin Mayor Aaron Montz. “Thank you to everyone whose work has made our community a destination in Northwest Ohio.”

The Heritage Ohio Annual Preservation and Revitalization Conference is Oct. 21-23 in Newark. The conference is to provide attendees networking opportunities and informational presentations by community preservation and revitalization experts in addition to the awards ceremony.
