Coastal Living names Lakeside in best beach towns list

Submitted by LAKESIDE CHAUTAUQUA

Coastal Living recently named Lakeside Chautauqua among the “10 Best Little Beach Towns on the Great Lakes.”

Lakeside is the only Ohio location and the only U.S. Lake Erie location to make the list in this international publication.

Because of the culture and charm that the small Chautauqua community offers, Lakeside had the honor of being ranked with towns such as Sackets Harbor in New York and Egg Harbor in Wisconsin.

“Tidy 19th-century summer cottages remain the heart of this quiet beach town,” the article reads. “Stroll the village’s Lakefront Path, overflowing beds of hollyhocks and black-eyed Susans to one side and the lapping Lake Erie surf to the other, before an evening of live music and author readings.”

Along this lakefront path, known as Ohio’s Most Beautiful Mile, visitors will enjoy 75+ concerts and shows, a resident Symphony Orchestra, recreational activities and countless opportunities to enrich the mind and the spirit.

The 2018 summer Chautauqua season will begin on Saturday, June 16, with the 13th annual Collector Car Show and improv comedy by Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood of the hit television show “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” From then until Labor Day, there are endless activities in the four Chautauqua pillars of recreation, education, art and religion that support Lakeside’s mission of nurturing mind, body and spirit.

With the opening of the Grindley Aquatic & Wellness Campus, which consists of a 6,000-square-foot swimming pool and a 4,000-square-foot Wellness Center, Lakeside is excited to offer expanded health and wellness opportunities. Along with the already established recreational activities, the Wellness Center will host classes such as tai chi, yoga, cardio, strength training and more. There is also an equipment room with treadmills, elliptical machines, a rowing machine, stationary bikes and weight machines.

Lakeside is also anticipating the opening of a pickleball center, which will offer eight courts dedicated to what is now the fastest-growing sport in the U.S.

Everything that Lakeside has to offer, including the Grindley Aquatic & Wellness Campus and all Hoover Auditorium performances are available to visitors with the purchase of a Daily Chautauqua pass, $23.50 for an adult or $15.50 for youth (ages 13-24). Kids age 12 & under and guests age 90 & older are always free. Between now and Thursday, May 31, Season Chautauqua Passes may be purchased at a pre- season discount of $730 for an adult and $420 for youth.
