CHIP Grants funding home repairs

The Community Housing & Impact Preservation Grant continues moving forward and projects are being completed. This $1.4 million grant, which partners Erie County with the cities of Sandusky, Huron and Vermilion, provides home repairs to those that qualify financially. Roofs, hot water tanks, furnaces and electrical repairs are just a few of the items that this home rehab program can address. All work in the program must be completed by Oct. 31, 2019.
To date, Erie County has completed two full rehabs, which can address multiple repairs, and has awarded contracts for eight additional projects. In addition, three home repairs, defined as addressing one item in a house, have been awarded and are under construction. A total of 10 rental residents have been assisted with security deposits through the Tenant Based Rental Assistance Program.
