SEPTEMBER

1 – BNI Fusion Chapter, 8 a.m., at the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library and Museums. Join us for the first Business Network International (BNI) and Chamber collaboration in the country! These fun, structured, weekly networking meetings are a great way to expand your network and grow your business. But act fast! Seats are limited to one per industry! BNI Fusion Chapter meetings will take place every Thursday morning from 8:00 to 9:30 am. Meetings are held at the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library and Museums from February through October. 30 – 30th Annual Chamber Golf Outing, registration begins 9 a.m. with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. at Fremont Country Club. Team registration is $500 and includes: 18 holes of golf and cart, poker run cards, contest, snacks, lunch and dinner. Register online at scchamber.org.

13 – Business After Hours: Fricker’s, 5 to 7 p.m., 865 Sean Dr., Fremont. Join in for drinks, food and networking with other Chamber members.

17 –iDecide Candidate Forum, 6 to 8 p.m., Vanguard-Sentinel Career and Technology Center. Questions from the community will be taken prior to the forum.  Each candidate on the November ballot will get a chance to respond. This is a free event for the community and will be steamed live on the Chamber’s Facebook page.

21 – Fourth Annual Chocolate Walk, 5 to 8 p.m., downtown Fremont. Tickets on sale for this event at the Downtown Fremont Inc. office. Each ticket allows a person 21 years and older to visit businesses in Downtown Fremont to shop and receive a gourmet chocolate item. 8-9 – Oak Harbor Apple Festival, downtown Oak Harbor. This year is the 43rd annual event and includes contests, rides, vendors, parade, cornhole tournament, bingo, live music, Apple Run and more. 6 – Ribbon Cutting: Berg Bistro 1850, 4 p.m., 93 Greenfield St., Tiffin. Berg Bistro 1850 is Heidelberg’s on-campus restaurant that acts as a modern pub with indoor and outdoor seating, a bar, music and a fireplace. Due to COVID-19 the restaurant was closed for the past two years but operated out of the main dining area through an online ordering app with a limited menu. The restaurant is now open Sunday through Thursday 4 to 10 p.m., with a full menu featuring artisanal sandwiches, salads, burgers and specialty drinks.

8 – Pan Yan Bookstore, 4 p.m., 144 S. Washington St. Judy Smith, founder and owner of Pan Yan Bookstore, is excited to welcome everyone and open her doors of the newly renovated space of the historic Empire block in Downtown Tiffin.

16 – Power Hour: Canva Quickstart, 10 a.m., North Central Ohio Education Service Center, 928 W. Market St., Tiffin. Interested in stepping up your work, events, or even personal milestones with a little graphic? Feeling intimidated by apps like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, etc? It’s time to get comfortable with Canva. Marisa Stephens of the Seneca Regional Chamber will cover Canva techniques as well as basic design principles to help you create the best looking Canva files.

3 – Festival of the Fish Fireworks, 8:30 p.m. The fireworks – delayed during the festival – were rescheduled for Labor Day weekend. Fireworks are launched off the detached break wall at the mouth of the Vermilion River. Best place to watch is Main Street Beach.

2 – 50th Annual Woollybear Festival, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., downtown Vermilion. Parade starts at 1:30 p.m. (streets close at 12:30 p.m.) Vendor registration available online at vermilionohio.com.

5 – Corks & Kegs, noon to 4 p.m., downtown Vermilion. Registration is $20 and guests will receive a QR code after registration needed for check-in. Check-in will be 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. the day of the event at Village of the Green in front of old town hall 736 Main St., Vermilion. Your $20 gets you an event bag, wrist band and map to participating merchants for your samples of wine and/or beer. Complete the map and be entered to win the grand prize basket. Every $10 spent at a participating merchant earns an additional entry for the basket.
