Busy summer underway in Marblehead

The Marblehead Peninsula Chamber of Commerce is proud to have been an active member of this unique community for over 81 years and are pleased to have members from surrounding areas such as Kelleys Island, Port Clinton and Sandusky. Our Mission: (1) To promote and market the Peninsula for the purpose of economic growth and good will between the businesses of our area; (2) to provide a structured organization to assist the business community with economic and community concerns and (3) to assist established businesses and to encourage and promote new businesses by supporting selected programs to benefit the short and long-term interest of the Peninsula.
We recently had our 81st annual Spring Banquet at the Mon Ami Restaurant & Winery on May 24. We had Musical Entertainment during our Banquet, attendees enjoyed the music. We had a great attendance of 120 members. The D.S. Kirkpatrick award was awarded to Holly Gast. The Business of the Year award was awarded to the Rocky Point Winery.
June 4, we hosted our 11th annual golf outing at the Catawba Island Club. We had a beautiful summer day at the club with 11 teams in attendance. Thank you to our corporate sponsors GenoaBank and Magruder Hospital.
The 23rd annual Marblehead Lighthouse Festival is coming up fast: Oct. 13 in Lakeside Chautauqua. The Lighthouse Festival is held in Lakeside featuring food, family entertainment and many vendors from Ohio as well as many from the surrounding states. We hope to see you there.
The Marblehead Peninsula Chamber of Commerce annually prints 55,000 visitor guides/maps. They are distributed throughout Ohio on the Ohio Turnpike and all of the interstate rest areas. Locally they can be picked up at one of our five tourist information racks, chamber member businesses, Lake Erie Shores and Islands (East and West) and our Chamber Information Center located at 110 W. The Marblehead Merchants have been busy planning events for the downtown area. The Farmers Market is every second Saturday of the month from 9 a.m. to noon; new this year they’ve added a market on the fourth Saturday: July 7 and 21, Aug. 11 and 25, Sept. 9 and Oct. 13. The Chamber continues to sponsor the Club Scouts and Boy Scouts of Danbury as well as the Holiday Bureau. Each year the Chamber proudly presents a scholarship to a graduating senior from Danbury High School. We continue to support Live Here Buy Here, and help maintain Ottawa County’s unique character.
