The Chamber is seeking nominations of educators who have exemplified vision, leadership and commitment to the improvement of education in our community. Outstanding Educator Award nomination forms are available online. The deadline for nominations is July 18. Students should nominate a teacher that has inspired them to be the best they can be. Parents should nominate teachers that have challenged and helped their son or daughter to achieve what they thought was impossible. AUG 4 – 25th Annual Classic Car Show Downtown Port Clinton, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Chamber’s Classic Car Show is held the first Saturday in August each year. Cars, trucks and bikes from virtually every era and every make will be on display on Adams Street. Proud owners will be polishing their vehicles and waxing eloquently about the history and renovations of their unique vehicles. DJ will be playing your favorites from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. 50/50 drawing every hour beginning at 11 a.m. and door prizes every hour beginning at 11:30 a.m. In recent years, the shows have hosted an average of more than 150 cars and trucks. Vehicle registration is $10 with a portion of the registration fees being donated to the Port Clinton 4th of July Fireworks and Main Street Port Clinton in honor of Jerry Lippus. Dash plaques will be given to the first 100 cars at check-in; and if you register and pay before June 30, you will receive a free T-shirt. For information, contact the chamber at 419-734-5503.

13-14 – Island Fest 2018, Kelleys Island Memorial Park, 112 Division St., 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., contact the Kelleys Island Chamber of Commerce, 419-746-2360 or info@kelleysislandchamber.com. The theme for Island Fest 2018 is Dog Days of Summer; featuring Ohio artisans, local crafters, food vendors, beer tent and evening street dances. Saturday kicks off with a parade in addition to afternoon live entertainment, kid’s games and fireworks at dusk. Friday and Saturday feature the events and entertainment sponsored by the Kelleys Island Chamber of Commerce while Sunday, July 15, is a “Bonus Day” for the vendors.

27-29 – 2018 Film Fest 2018, Kelleys Island Ball Field, 9:30 to 11:30 p.m., 121 Addison St., Kelleys Island.  Movies will be shown both indoors and outdoors on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The outdoor screenings will be held at the Ball Field on an impressive inflatable screen and sound system. In case of inclement weather, the outdoor screenings will be moved to the Town Hall. For outdoor showings, be sure to bring what you need to be comfortable – blankets, chairs, golf carts, cars or trucks. The Film Fest is a popular and family-friendly event with a variety of box office movies at staggered showtimes.
